Costa del Golf Review

Los Naranjos – Friendly staff, course in very good condition.

Monte Mayor – Fantastic views but too hard for high handicappers who lost lots of balls!!

El Paraiso – Friendly staff but course in need of some TLC in places.

Los Arqueros – Fantastic set up, views, course and facilities.  We all wanted to play it again – Excellent!

The whole holiday was excelent and very well organised and enjoyed by all.  The transfers to and from airport and courses were punctual and quality of vehicles first class.  All the party agreed we must do it again next year – same hotel with transfers but probably a couple of different courses.

Special thanks to John for organising it and for answering my various queries.

Mr Williams and his group of 6 stayed at H10 Andalucia Plaza Hotel, Costa del Sol in April 2010.

Happy at Home!

As air travel returns to normality, people continue to return to the UK and all flights are now back on schedule.

Whilst some Brits do remain stranded many have now returned home and they all have a story to tell!  It’s refreshing to hear that the benefit of booking with a Tour Operator is so evident and that the service, advice, communication and help offered to customers is still an essential part of booking golf holidays for many golfers.

Take a look at these comments from Premier Iberian customers who continue to offer a premium service to their clients.

Praise indeed …

“I should just like to take this opportunity to record my sincere thanks, along with those of the three other friends I was on holiday with in La Cala in Spain – for the assistance and help provided by Premier Iberian during the two extra days we had to stay over during the recent flying problems created by volcanic ash.  In particular Lucy Swinn was extremely helpful as was Chris York and we are most grateful to all involved for the help and assistance we received.”  Mr Hume

Everyone at Premier Iberian have been working so hard throught the recent flight crisis – it’s great to hear that the effort is appreciated and that customers still enjoyed their golfing holidays!

Good Service in a Bad Situation!

It has been an ‘interesting’ week for Specialist Golf Tour Operator – Premier Iberian, with the ash cloud causing chaos for travelling golfers.  Frustrating for those in the UK waiting to hear if they will be travelling and even more so for those stranded abroad.  The media have been keen on finding someone to blame but it is important not to forget that safety has been the overriding factor in this uprecidented situtation.

The good news is that the skys are of course now open but sadly this does not mean that those still abroad will be able to immediately fly home.  Tickets already sold for scheduled flights still stand which mean the only option for those who have had their original flight cancelled is to be re-booked onto a much later available flight or to remain at the airport on standby and hope for spare seats to become available.

Premier Iberian has been in regular contact with all their clients both in the UK and throughout Europe and has been busy moving holidays on for those who have yet to travel and arranging additional accommodation and alternative routes home for those still in resort.  One of which was a coach from Vilamoura in Portugal to Le Havre in France where clients picked up ferries to Portsmouth –  a long and tiring journey but one that guaranteed golfers to return home together in the quickest possible time! – Everything you would expect from a good Tour Operator!

Premier Iberian are proud to put their customers first and are happy that their ’round the clock’ efforts have been appreciated by all customers involved.  As always in times of crisis, there is much confusion over who is responsible, and Premier Iberian have made it their policy to do all they can to assist customers – even when the flights had been booked directly with the airline – making sure everyone is safe and well has been, and continues to be, an essential part of the Premier Iberian service.

If this sounds like the sort of service you would appreciate – contact Premier Iberian Golf Holidays for your next golfing break where the customer always comes first.

UK Flights Grounded for Second Day

“Flights across the UK are to remain grounded for a second day as volcanic ash from Iceland drifts across Europe.”

This is the headline from the BBC News sitetoday (16/04/10), as thousands of holiday makers’ plans are affected, delayed and, in some cases, completely cancelled.

And The Winner Is …

Many congratulations to Phil Mickleson for his 2010 Masters victory at Augusta! With 4 Majors now under his belt including his 3rd Green Jacket Mickleson pipped Lee Westwood in the closing holes of the famous course.

Mickleson's 3rd Green Jacket

“It feels incredible,” Mickelson said. “I could go on and on, there’s so many reasons why, but to win this tournament it’s the most amazing feeling and this is a special day.”

At the presentation of the green jacket, Mickelson added: “I’ll look back on this day as very memorable. It’s something I’ll always cherish.”

Westwood, Europe’s no. 1, having finished 3rd in the 2008 US Open and 3rd in the 2009 Open at Turnbury was hoping for his first Major Success in 2010 and was frustrated to have lost out after leading on the final day at Augusta :

“Whenever you come this close there is a tinge of disappointment,” said Lee, “but Phil was saying he had been the nearly man in the past, finishing second and third before he won. I’ll take the positives and keep persevering until I become a Major winner.”

US Masters Winner 2010

The turning point was at the 12th where Mickleson birdied and the 13th when Westwood’s tee shot found the pine straw amongst the tree, Mickleson gained momentum and birdied the 15th to lead by 3 shots – the rest as they say is history!

Tiger Woods threatened to close on the leaders in the early stages of the final day but then dropped back leaving the title fight to Mickleson and Westwood.

After day 2 at Augusta, many of us wondered if Ian Poulter would be sporting the colour green, even more confident in his ability after winning the WGC Accenture match-play earlier this year.

“It has helped a lot to win on this side of the pond,” he says. “I’m in a position now where I can go out and be kind of aggressive on the golf course. I’ve done my homework and it’s a nice position to be at.” Sadly Poulter fell behind on day 3 and finshed in joint 10th on a total -5.
